Shopee Donates 1 Million Vaccines And 1,000 Oxygen Cylinders, Minister Of Health Budi: Priority 7 Java-Bali Province

JAKARTA - The government received assistance with 1,000 oxygen cylinders and 1 million vaccines from Shopee. This assistance is expected to be part of the solution to the high demand for medical oxygen which has risen due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases.

This was stated by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin during the handover of aid, Antara, Monday, July 12.

"It is important to realize that we cannot fight this pandemic alone but we must do it together, we cannot exclusively save groups, sections or organizations from our own country but we must inclusively work with all community groups in the world to overcome the pandemic. this," said Budi.

The Ministry of Health will distribute these 1,000 oxygen cylinders to various regions that are currently experiencing the highest COVID-19 cases. 1,000 oxygen cylinders have been received at the Ministry of Health's Crisis Center on July 10, 2021, which will then be distributed according to the needs in the field.

The distribution of oxygen cylinders is expected to reach all regions of Indonesia, especially people who currently need oxygen cylinders for healing for those exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

"The priority is in the seven provinces of Java and Bali. If we want to be even sharper, it should be sent to the Yogya and Central Java areas. Why? Because the big oxygen plants in Java are in West Java and East Java so that Java Central is experiencing difficulties in terms of distribution and logistics to meet its oxygen needs," said Budi.

This assistance is the Sea Group's commitment to take an active role in accelerating recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia through the 1,000 Oxygen Cylinders and 1 Million Vaccines program from Shopee for the homeland.

Ye Gang, Co-Founder of Sea Group, Shopee's Parent Company, said that to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, cooperation from various parties is needed, from the government, companies to individuals. Contributions small or large, will have the same meaning to eradicate the corona virus.

"Today I also announce that Shopee will run a 1 million vaccination program for the people of Indonesia, together with the Ministry of Health and the Regional Government. We hope that this initiative from Shopee can encourage other companies to come forward together and take a role in the fight against this virus," Ye Gang said at a press conference for the delivery of "1,000 Oxygen Cylinders and 1 Million Shopee Vaccines for the homeland" on Monday.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health on July 5, 2021, so far in Java-Bali the total need for oxygen for intensive care and isolation of COVID-19 patients has reached 1,928 tons per day.

Meanwhile, the available capacity is 2,262 tons per day. Thus, it is targeted that the Java-Bali region can supply 2,262 tons of oxygen per day.
