JAKARTA - The spread of COVID-19 in the City and District of Sukabumi, West Java, is getting fiercer, in just a week starting from July 5 to 11, 2021, the total number of patients who died from the two areas reached 75 patients.

As for the details, in Sukabumi City, there were 24 confirmed positive patients who died in the past week and from Sukabumi Regency there were 51 patients spread across almost all sub-districts.

"Death cases confirmed positive for COVID-19 continue to grow every day, the majority of the patients who died had a history of other diseases or comorbidities," said Public Relations of the Sukabumi Regency COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Eneng Yulia in Sukabumi, as reported by Antara, Sunday, July 11. .

According to him, the high number of deaths from residents infected with this deadly virus is caused by several factors other than age as well as patient comorbidities. However, there are several children who have died from COVID-19.

Of course, by increasing the number of deaths, it becomes the concern of all parties, so as not to underestimate the existence of this virus. In addition, in the past week, his party noted that hundreds of residents of Sukabumi Regency were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

In an effort to suppress and break the spread of the deadly virus, the local government together with elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Sukabumi Regency took a number of preventive measures.

For example, the Regent of Sukabumi, Marwan Hamami, issued a circular regarding the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) which took effect from 3-20 July.

"We urge the residents of Sukabumi Regency to comply with the rules contained in the emergency PPKM by implementing health protocols, do not regret after yourself or loved ones are infected or become victims of COVID-19. 281 people who died," he said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Sukabumi City COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Wahyu Handriana, said the death toll of positive confirmed patients had exceeded 100 cases, or 118 cases to be exact.

In the past week, his party has always received reports of an increase in death cases, only on Sunday, July 11, it did not receive reports of positive confirmed patients who died.

"The patient died while undergoing special treatment in the isolation room of the referral hospital and his condition was severe. The majority of them had comorbidities and were elderly," he said.

With the implementation of PPKM until July 20, his party hopes that the number of new cases can be suppressed, but the key is in each other's hands. Because the one who can prevent you from contracting the virus, which was first discovered in Wuhan, China, is yourself.

As for the data on the development of COVID-19 cases until Sunday, July 11, the total number of residents who were confirmed positive reached 4,542 people, then 886 patients who were still undergoing isolation or recovered as many as 3,538 patients and 118 patients died.
