Positive COVID-19, Bekasi IDI Chairman Kamaruddin Askar Died

JAKARTA - The head of the Bekasi City Branch of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), Kamaruddin Askar passed away, Tuesday, July 6. This was confirmed by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Daeng M. Faqih.

Kamaruddin died at around 07.46 WIB at Primaya Hospital, West Bekasi. Daeng said, Kamaruddin died while being confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"It's true, Pak Kamaruddin died when he tested positive for COVID-19," Daeng said in a short message to VOI, Tuesday, July 6.

Daeng said, Kamaruddin also had comorbidities or comorbidities. Thus, when contracting COVID-19, the symptoms worsened to the point of requiring intensive care before dying.

"I got information that he has comorbidities. But, I don't know the details of the disease," he said.

The news of Kamaruddin's death was also revealed on the official Instagram account of the Mitigation Team of the Indonesian Doctors Association, @timmitigasiidi.

"My deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Kamaruddin Askar, Chairman of IDI Bekasi City Branch.

"May the deceased be placed in the best place by His side, and the bereaved family be given fortitude," the account wrote.

Previously, IDI noted that as of 27 June, 405 doctors had died. During the past month, as of June 1 to 27, 31 doctors died.

Meanwhile, a report from the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) also stated that as of June 28, 326 nurses had died due to contracting the corona virus.
