JAKARTA - The National Police asks the public not to be selfish in stockpiling drugs and oxygen that are needed by many people during the COVID-19 pandemic. If caught hoarding oxygen cylinders, the Police will give criminal sanctions.

"This difficult situation should not be used by any party to seek profit. Do not hoard, do not speculate about the current difficult situation", said Head of Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono to reporters, Monday, July 5.

The National Police continues to monitor developing issues regarding the stockpiling of drugs and oxygen. In fact, they have visited the factories directly to check availability.

"And of course the Police also carry out intensive detection activities on various information, various issues that are developing in the community and of course prepare anticipatory steps", said Rusdi.

"Because I believe that the Police will take firm actions against any behavior that harms the community at large only for personal interests", continued Rusdi.

The National Police asked all parties to obey the rules of the policy implemented by the government, namely Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). This is because the policy is in the interest of the whole society

"People's safety is the highest law, so the things that are done by the Police and other agencies are nothing but how to maintain the safety of the Indonesian people", said Rusdi.

In monitoring drugs and medical devices, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered his staff to take firm action against businessmen who hoard during the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, confirmed the order. The order was stated in the Telegram Letter numbered ST/173/VII/HUK/7.1./2021 dated July 3, 2021.

"It is true, the National Police fully supports the implementation of the Java-Bali PPKM from July 3 to 20", said Agus.

The emergence of the order continued Agus, which aims to ensure that all medicines and medical equipment are available. So, there is no turmoil that only has a bad impact on society.

"Strict law enforcement against actions that hinder all government efforts in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak", he said.
