2 Hectares Of Peatland In Balangan, South Kalimantan Burnt

TABALONG - About two hectares of peatland in Teluk Karya Village, Lampihong District, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan was burned.

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Balangan Regency, Alive Yoesfah Love, said that when his party received the report, the condition of the fire was 75 percent extinguished.

However, they are still monitoring the spread of the fire.

"The Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the BPBD Balangan Regency assisted by the Fire Care Community (MPA) is trying its best to extinguish the fire that burns peatlands in Teluk Karya Village", he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 24.

He said the fire spread across peatlands quickly, while the TRC team, assisted by MPA, worked for hand in hand to extinguish the fire.

They extinguished the fire using a jet shooter and a portable machine, the officers walked to the spot where the fire was still there.

During the process of extinguishing the fire, the TRC members encountered problems, namely road conditions and night conditions that made it impossible to continue extinguishing the fire.

They decided to return to the gathering point because the path they were passing was blocked by the river to get to the location of another hotspot in the same place.

It is also known that the village is a village that is prone to forest and land fires. Likewise for the entire area in Lampihong District, Balangan Regency.
