Mr. Anies Baswedan, Resident Of Kebon Pala In East Jakarta Is Flooded Due To Ciliwung River Overflow

JAKARTA - Residential settlements in RW 04 and RW 05 Kebon Pala, East Jakarta were again flooded due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River on Wednesday, June 22 today.

One resident named Jhony explained that the flood began to inundate the settlements in his place at 07.00 western Indonesia time.

"The water just rose, because last night Katulampa and Depok Monitoring Post started rising at midnight at around 23:00 western Indonesia time, so the water just arrived," said Jhony, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday afternoon.

Jhony said the water level in the settlements is currently around 40 centimeters. However, according to him, there is a possibility that the water level could still increase.

"Because the water has just risen, there is still a possibility that the height will increase. This is still shallow because the water has only just arrived," he said.

Jhony added that flooding in his area had occurred twice in the past week due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River.

Although the current water level is still low, residents have moved their vehicles and belongings to a higher location.

"Tuesday night there was also a flood, but it wasn't high. It was only about 40 centimeters, the same as now the water is high. The difference is that it's only the morning flood," said Jhony.
