Sad News From Tangerang Regency, Inpatient Room For COVID-19 Patients At Tangerang Hospital Is Full

JAKARTA - The inpatient room for COVID-19 patients at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Tangerang Regency, Banten, is currently fully filled or exceeds capacity (overload), even the intensive care unit (ICU) ward has reached 93 percent.

The Publication and Information Law (HPI) of the Tangerang Regency Hospital, Hilwani said that from the capacity of 120 inpatient rooms for COVID-19 patients, there are no remaining rooms.

"There are 120 special inpatient rooms for COVID-19 patients and the ICU are already filled", he said as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 23.

According to Hilwani, the excess capacity in the inpatient and ICU rooms for COVID-19 patients was due to an increase in cases in the last few weeks and also the large number of other health facilities sending their patients to Tangerang Regional hospitals as a reference.

"Indeed, this past week, in our area the cases of COVID-19 increased dramatically, even 26 patients waiting in the ER to get treatment", he said.

With these conditions and situations, his party must try to implement a selection system for special COVID-19 patients. Only patients with severe symptoms can enter or be treated at the hospital.

"In addition to the selection system, we are currently adding transit or reserve rooms by building emergency tents specifically for COVID-19 patients", he said.

Then, there are also many health workers in Tangerang Regency area, especially in referral hospitals, who were infected with the coronavirus. Thus causing a shortage of human resources in the health sector.

"Even this increase in cases has an impact on our health workers who are exposed, which causes a reduction", he said.

Based on data from the Tangerang District Health Office (Dinkes) as of June 22, 2021, the number of positive cases of COVID -19 currently has reached 11.928 people, then 11.091 recovered patients, 145 patients undergoing treatment, 422 isolated patients, and 264 cases of death.
