Rain Wind With Ice In Bandung, Vaccination Tents At GBLA Collapse

BANDUNG - The Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium in Bandung, West Java, which is the location for the mass COVID-19 vaccination, was hit by heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and hail, causing several vaccination tents to collapse.

The incident occurred at around 14.00 WIB, after a review by the Minister of Health, the National Police Chief, and the TNI Commander. In addition, heavy rains accompanied by strong winds caused the fall of ice grains.

"Because it's like a very large tornado, it took about an hour, so three tents were destroyed and eight were overturned", said Jajang Jamaludin, Logistics Staff of West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPDB) Equipment, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 17.

Even so, he made sure the vaccination equipment was quickly secured by officers at GBLA.

After that, according to him, the vaccination was continued in the building inside the stadium. He confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

Previously, the vaccination event entitled "Serbuan Vaksinasi" was held on Thursday morning. The activity is planned to be attended by 5,000 people from the Greater Bandung area.

Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said that this activity is one of the accelerations of vaccination, which is targeted to be able to vaccinate as many as 1 million people in one day.

In addition, he also wants the vaccination to be carried out in an open place like the one held at the GBLA Stadium. Because according to him, open spaces have good air circulation and can practice social distancing.
