Police Arrested Persecution Of Mosque Guard To Death In Nabire

NABIRE - A joint police team arrested the perpetrator of the abuse of a mosque guard, initials K who assaulted the victim at the Baiturahman Mosque complex, Nabire, Papua.

The police chief said the persecution took place at a coffee shop within the mosque complex. The guard of the mosque who was persecuted had the initials MI.

“The chronology of the incident began with witness M (39), a mosque guard while selling cakes with his wife in front of the mosque. Furthermore, because someone ordered coffee, then witness M found MI victim (53) already lying in the coffee shop with the TV remote next to the victim", said Police Chief AKBP Kariawan Barus in a statement by the National Police Public Relations, Tuesday, June 15.

At that time the witness did not know the victim died. The witness called another person and it was discovered that the victim had died.

"From the statements of the two witnesses, M and N, after checking the CCTV footage of the mosque, it was only found out that it was perpetrator K who had perpetrated the mistreatment of MI victims", said the Police Chief.

From the investigation, the police arrested perpetrator K in the Oyehe market. The perpetrator is currently being held at the Nabire Police Station.

"Currently, the perpetrators have been detained by our ranks in the Criminal Investigation Unit and are being investigated. For the health of the perpetrators, coordination will be carried out by the Medicine and Health of the Papua Police and the South Sulawesi Police", said AKBP Kariawan.
