JAKARTA - A video circulated of a large queue of COVID-19 patients at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

In the video, hundreds of residents who were confirmed positive for the coronavirus were sitting on the floor in the lobby of the Wisma Atlet. This was confirmed by the Field Commander of the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital Kemayoran, Marine Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Arifin.

"It is true that there was a long line. That happened last night", said Arifin when confirmed, Tuesday, June 15.

Arifin explained that they had just been delivered by the Public health center in their neighborhood and were waiting to get an isolation room.

He admitted that the patients who entered since last night quite a lot. Meanwhile, officers need time to prepare isolation rooms. Moreover, currently, the availability of beds for COVID-19 patients at the Wisma Atlet is almost full.

Seeing this incident, Arifin hopes that the public is aware that compliance with implementing health protocols is important so as not to contract COVID-19. Because, when they are infected, they will experience difficulties in undergoing isolation.

"Let the public see. It's not nice to queue, until the early hours of the morning you get a room, waiting like that. That's their own effect. If I talk about queuing now, just let it be. I'll just say it so they are aware", he said.

For information, there has been an increase in the occupancy rate for treating COVID-19 patients at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital Kemayoran today.

Currently, the utilization reaches 90 percent of the 5.994 beds provided, so there is 20 percent of beds that are not occupied by patients.

Head of Information for Defense Area Joint Command I (Kogabwilhan I), Marine Colonel Aris Mudian said that as of today, there are 425 people who have just come to Wisma Atlet as COVID-19 isolation patients.

"Inpatients at the Wisma Atlet Hospital are 5.453 people from 5.994 bed capacities. Initially, there were 5.028 people being treated, and today there are 425 people", Aris said in his statement.

So, since the beginning it was used as a place of isolation on March 23, 2020, until now, the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Hospital has taken care of 92.278 coronavirus patients.

"There were 86.825 patients discharged, with details of 85.815 recovered patients, 918 were referred to other hospitals, and 92 people died", he said.

Currently, the government is preparing to increase the capacity at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran to 9.566 isolation beds. Then, the government will also open a tower at Wisma Atlet Pademangan with 1.572 beds.
