"This COVID-19 vaccination targeting students at Islamic boarding schools is the first time it has been carried out in Pekanbaru City, Riau," said Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Nandang Mu'min Wijaya in Pekanbaru as reported by Antara.

He said, apart from students and administrators of the Miftahul Huda Islamic Boarding School, local residents were also invited to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to reduce morbidity and mortality due to the deadly virus.

He said that the vaccination activities went smoothly so that this effort also supports the government in creating communal immunity.

"Alhamdulillah, the vaccinations for students went smoothly, and it is planned to hold vaccinations in other Islamic boarding schools in Pekanbaru," he said
