Eight Burglars Of The Speed Boat Drivers In Pontianak Arrested

PONTIANAK - The West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) Regional Police team arrested eight burglars of speed boat drivers in the Pontianak Port area.

"Today we managed to arrest eight people whose status is now designated as suspects in the speed boat driver burglary case," said Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the West Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner Luthfie Sulistiawan, in Pontianak, as quoted by Antara, Friday, June 11.

He said the modus operandi of the perpetrators was asking for money from speed boat drivers as much as Rp10,000 to Rp15,000.

"Their mode is asking for money from speed boat drivers, for one passenger it is Rp10 thousand to Rp15 thousand," he said.

According to Grand Commissioner Luthfie, throughout 2021, his party arrested 638 suspects in street crime cases.

"Of the 638 suspects arrested, including cases of stealing seven suspects, stealing as many as 43 people, stealing 32 people, ordinary theft 94, extorting one person, threatening two people, and beating 33 people," he said.

Some of the suspects were trained by the West Kalimantan Police.

"Some of them have been trained, namely as many as 106 people, which we cannot attend all today, because they have to comply with the COVID-19 health protocol to avoid crowding," he said.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner Donny Charles Go, said that the public can access number 110 for special complaints about crimes which are currently the special attention of the West Kalimantan Police.

"If there are people who are victims or know of crime events on the streets, don't hesitate to report them to the police, the facilities are also easier, you don't have to go to the police station, but you can use cellphones, electronics, the existing internet website, and rest assured for precision public relations. Reports that go directly to the National Police Headquarters from there will be forwarded to us (PR) and followed up," he said.
