JAKARTA - North Sulawesi (Sulut) province exported frozen coconut milk to China and Thailand at the end of May 2021, following high demand from both countries.

"Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the whole world, there is still demand for frozen coconut milk from China and Thailand," said Head of the Foreign Trade of Industry and Trade Service of North Sulawesi, Darwin Muksin, in Manado, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 9.

Frozen coconut milk exported to China was 25 tons with a foreign exchange value of 18,275 US dollars.

Meanwhile, he said, frozen coconut milk exported to Thailand was much more, namely 48 tons, and was able to generate foreign exchange for the country of US$65,668.

Frozen coconut milk, he said, is a new product derived from coconut from North Sulawesi which is exported, so the target market is still small.

The government, he said, would continue to strive to increase the market for frozen coconut milk products.

"We will continue to look for new markets for North Sulawesi's export products, at least being able to match the export destination countries for coconut flour," he said.
