Medical Personnel Have Fallen, There Are 16 Health Workers In Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, Positive For COVID-19

PADANG - The Tanah Datar District Health Office, West Sumatra conducted a search on residents who had close contact with 16 health workers at the Sungai Tarab Health Center after being tested positive for COVID-19.

"Yes, we are now 'tracing' (trace) first with whom these health workers make contact, and we will see who is in contact two days before the 'swab' (swab test)," said the Head of Disease Control and Eradication (P2P) Tanah Datar Health Office Roza Mardiah in Batusangkar, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 8.

She said that after testing positive for the new type of coronavirus, health services at the Sungai Tarab Health Center were temporarily stopped.

The temporary suspension of health services for the community has begun on Monday, June 7 until an undetermined time.

"For the time being, we will stop the health services at the Sungai Tarab Community Health Center for an undetermined time. We are looking for people who are in close contact," she said.

Regarding the teacher who was in contact with health workers during vaccination at the public health center, her party admitted that they did not know for sure.

"We first checked whether our health workers were vaccinating at that time, we didn't get definite information, usually our health workers were in full protective clothing. But first, we asked if there were any teachers who were vaccinated at that time," she said.

Roza said the high rate of spread of COVID-19 in Tanah Datar in recent times was triggered by the lax implementation of health protocols in the community.

In recent days, the addition of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tanah Datar has increased dramatically. Over the past three days, 134 people have tested positive for the virus.

"I hope that the public remains disciplined in implementing health protocols, wearing masks, washing hands, and keeping a distance, avoiding crowds," she said.
