Iranian media denies Foreign Minister Araghchi has arrived in Islamabad ready for peace talks with the US

JAKARTA - Iranian media denied that Iranian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Abbas Araghchi and Speaker of Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf had arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The two officials of the Islamic Republic were reported by the Wall Street Journal to have arrived in Islamabad to lead the Iranian delegation in the continuation of the Iran-US ceasefire.

However, Press TV, citing the Tasnim news agency, said the two officials were still in Tehran, Iran, and were carrying out their respective duties.

A senior source called the claim "completely untrue," and denied the existence of a delegation sent to Islamabad.

Previously, the Wall Street Journal quoted a source familiar with the matter as reporting that Araghchi and Ghalibaf were part of an Iranian delegation that arrived on Thursday, April 9.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that the White House confirmed that the US delegation in these negotiations was reportedly led by US Vice President JD Vance accompanied by special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The US negotiating team is said to have arrived in Pakistan today, Friday, April 10.
