Welcoming Environment Day, Anies Asks Residents To Turn Off The Lights For One Hour

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked the residents of the capital to turn off the lights on Saturday, June 5 at night. This is done to commemorate World Environment Day.

"Allow me in this World Environment Day, I invite all residents of Jakarta to turn off the lights on Saturday, June 5, 2021, for 1 hour from 20.30 to 21.30 local time," Anies said on Instagram dkijakarta, Thursday, June 3.

Anies asked his citizens to take part in actions to care for the environment by saving energy in the context of World Environment Day.

"This very simple symbolic action is one of our joint efforts to care more about the environment," said Anies.

He said support for environmental conservation by turning off the lights is very beneficial for the survival of future generations.

"God willing, in the future, we can leave the environment we live in for our children in a good condition and even better," said Anies.

"And God willing, later they will be able to take advantage of it as we have been using it," he continued.

For information, World Environment Day is celebrated every June 5th. This celebration was established by the United Nations (UN) conference on June 1-16, 1972 in Stockholm, Sweden.

World Environment Day was created with the aim of raising awareness about a sustainable environment. In addition, this warning is used as an opportunity for everyone to voice protection for the earth.
