KKB Papua Shoots Dead Building Employees In Omukia District, Police: Victim Shouts 'Sorry Commander'

PAPUA - The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is back in action in Eromaga village, Omukia district, Puncak Regency, Papua. Last Thursday, June 3, KKB shot and killed a building employee named Abel Halenti (30).

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said the incident began when the victim and his colleague Muh Alif departed from the employee camp at the Shower Complex in Kibogolome Village, Ilaga District, towards Eronggobak Village, Omukia District, at around 12.30 WIT.

They used an official car belonging to the Puncak Local Government, a Ford double-cabin pickup to transport pigs.

At around 13.00 WIT, when they were about to go home, the victim and his partner, Muh Alif, were held at gunpoint by KKB who carried one long barrel and one short barrel.

"Before he was shot, the victim shouted 'pardon the commander", Fakhiri said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 3.

Fakhiri added that seeing his colleague being shot, Alif immediately got into the car and fled and reported it to the Ilaga Police.

While fleeing, KKB shot the vehicle he was traveling in and hit the car door.

Even for the evacuation of victims from the crime scene, the officers had a shootout with KKB. "There were no casualties", said Papuan Police Chief.
