Friend of his son drowned in a reservoir, mother at Jaktim grateful that her son slept soundly at the warung

JAKARTA - A boy drowned in a reservoir at Taman Embung Sejuk, RT 007/004, Cilangkap, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, Sunday, February 15, 2026.

The victim had drowned for about 30 minutes and was successfully evacuated by the surrounding residents. When found, the victim was already in a bluish condition.

For further processing, the victim was escorted by residents from the artificial lake and taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

According to Inur's statement, residents around the victim drowned while playing at the Sejuk Pond, Cilangkap on Sunday afternoon around 17.00 WIB.

"There is a story that makes my hair stand on end. Before the incident, the victim and his friends called my son to come to the reservoir," Inir told reporters.

However, Inur's son did not go with the victim because he was fast asleep and it was difficult to wake him up.

"Alhamdulillah my child sleeps at the stall, many times I wake up, he doesn't wake up around 14.00 WIB," he said.

Because Inur's son did not wake up, the victim and his friends finally went to the reservoir area.

"Because they didn't wake up, they went to the reservoir, my son didn't wake up long after (after the victim and his friends went to the reservoir)," he said.

Fortunately, Inur's child survived the disaster because he was asleep.

"His mother told him (my son), he said that his friends (my son) called him to go out. Because he didn't wake up, he didn't come (my son). Thank God, it's creepy to see it," he said.

Until this news was written, it was not known about the current condition of the drowning boy victim. Meanwhile, residents hope that the East Jakarta City Government, especially the City Park and Forest Sub-Directorate, can supervise a number of parks that have reservoirs within their areas.

"Hopefully, the supervision and security of the reservoir need to be improved," he hoped.
