Palace Denies Prabowo Reshuffle Cabinet Amid Flood Controversy

JAKARTA - Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi denied that President Prabowo Subianto would carry out a reshuffle or reshuffle the Red and White Cabinet in the near future. He emphasized that until now there has been no discussion or presidential plan to change the cabinet line-up.

"Reshuffle? What reshuffle? There is none yet," said Prasetyo when answering a reporter's question after attending a meeting with the leadership of the DPR at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 19.

Prasetyo dismissed various speculations that have developed regarding the possibility of President Prabowo evaluating his aides in the cabinet in the near future. According to him, the issue is unfounded because it has never been discussed in official or internal government forums.

Previously, the issue of cabinet reshuffle emerged after the Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni expressed his readiness if President Prabowo Subianto decided to carry out a cabinet reshuffle. The statement was made following sharp criticism from members of the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the handling of forest damage which is suspected to be the cause of the massive floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Raja Juli conveyed this attitude when he was met at the parliament complex, Senayan, Thursday, December 4, 2025. At that time, member of the House of Representatives Commission IV, Rahmat Saleh, publicly asked Raja Juli Antoni to resign from his position because he considered the Ministry of Forestry to have failed to prevent recurring hydrometeorological disasters.

Responding to the demand, King Juli emphasized that the evaluation of the performance of ministers was entirely the authority of the president. He stated that he was open to being evaluated, especially if there was evidence of forest damage or deforestation practices that contributed to natural disasters.

"I am ready to be evaluated. That is entirely the President's right," Raja Juli said at the time.
