JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said that the revision of the Law on General Elections (Pemilu) does not regulate permanent coalitions of political parties.

According to him, the rules regarding political parties (parpol) do not regulate the issue of a permanent coalition. He said the revision of the Election Law that will be discussed is part of the follow-up to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

"If the Election Law does not regulate permanent coalitions, political parties do not regulate it," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, quoted by Antara.

He said that the government had coordinated with the DPR RI leadership regarding the revision of the Election Law to equalize several crucial things from the Problem Inventory List (DIM) which will later be discussed.

"This is our routine to coordinate because this has actually started since the previous period and is included in the 2026 Prolegnas," he said.

According to him, the government also evaluated the processes of the referendum that had been running, both in terms of implementation, concept, including discussing the discourse on the use of e-voting technology in the election.

However, most importantly, he emphasized that the government has a positive and constructive spirit in discussing the Election Law for the sake of the nation and state.

"We must be able to find improvements in the interests of the nation and state," he said.

Previously, the 2025 I National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Golkar Party produced a number of recommendations, among which it encouraged the existence of a permanent coalition as a form of binding political cooperation in parliament and government.

The purpose of the permanent coalition is to ensure that every strategic policy of the government receives stable political support, accelerate the decision-making process, and maintain the continuity of national development in the long term.
