JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Nusron Wahid, asked the government to continue to try to obtain a WHO certificate for the Sinovac vaccine. This is so that Indonesian pilgrims who have been vaccinated can pass the requirements to perform hajj with a limited quota from the Government of Saudi Arabia.

"This will be a serious problem because those who choose vaccines are not Indonesian Muslims, but the government and Bio Farma", Nusron said in a statement, Wednesday, May 26.

"It would be ironic and tragic if it had been expensively purchased with state funds, it would not have made it easier for people to go on hajj," he continued.

Golkar's politicians hope that in the next week or two, the Sinovac vaccine has been certified by who.
"If who certification comes out soon, this will be used as a tool or means of diplomacy so that some Muslims can still go on hajj like other countries", Nusron said.

Previously, the Director of BioFarma, Honesti Basyir, revealed it is estimated that in the next week or two Sinovac vaccines have been certified by WHO.

"We are doing our utmost and we will push for the Sinovac vaccine to be accepted in the Government of Saudi Arabia," he said.

Known, the Government of Saudi Arabia confirmed that it will allow pilgrims from abroad to perform hajj in 2021. For the quota of pilgrims, only 60,000 people from all over the world, and pilgrims must also implement strict health protocols.

According to a report, Saudi Arabia has issued a list of recommended vaccines, excluding vaccines produced in China. Namely the Sinovac vaccine.
