'Reunion' With Commission X DPR RI, Mayor Agustina Disbursed Strengthening Education Programs In Semarang City

SEMARANG - Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng explained a number of educational, literacy, and youth strengthening programs during a working visit (Kunker) to the DPR RI Commission X recess at Semarang City Hall, Wednesday (10/12). This visit is a strategic momentum for Commission X DPR RI to absorb the aspirations and factual conditions regarding the implementation of education, culture, literacy, youth and sports policies as well as research and technology in Semarang City.

In his presentation, Agustina emphasized that the development of Semarang City education throughout 2025 was moved through a collaborative approach. "In the field of education, we are grateful that we have received many awards, one of which is from the Ministry of Home Affairs in the category of improving access to educational services, which is in line with the increase in the Semarang City Education Report from 83.66 to 84.12," said Agustina.

One of the flagship programs that Commission X pays attention to is the free private school program that has been running since 2020 through a grant mechanism. In 2025, this program will reach 129 schools with a budget of IDR 25.79 billion, and in 2026 it will be expanded to 135 schools.

Agustina explained that the need for education for income families is around Rp. 5 million per month, actually reaching Rp. 70 , 90 billion per year to reach elementary, junior high and high school.

Therefore, Agustina admitted that she would open collaborative support with the business world. "We are working on a CSR forum by offering the names of the children who proposed this scholarship directly to several offices and companies that do have educational programs," he said.

In addition to expanding access to education, the Semarang City Government has also mobilized literacy programs, short-writing training for elementary and junior high school students, as well as the issuance of short-term anthology involving more than 1,800 participants. In the youth sector, the City Government strengthens supporting systems for young talents, ranging from sports, arts, culture, to facilitating international competitions.

All of these achievements became the foundation for the direction of development in 2026 with one of the building taglines, namely Semarang Smart.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR RI, Kurniasih Mufidayati, appreciated the development of Semarang City. "Alhamdulillah, we are grateful and proud to see the development of Semarang City which is very special and very extraordinary. The spirit of Semarang City as a smart city is a concern and something very special for us," said Kurniasih.

He also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of free private schools as an implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs award received by Semarang City in 2025 as a form of success in expanding access to education.

Kurniasih said that his party and Commission X of the DPR RI will continue to absorb aspirations and input from the regions as factual data in a number of committees in Commission X. Of course, because the Mayor who has experience in Commission X of the DPR RI, there must be a lot of input, which may be related to the spirit of Semarang City to become a smart city," he concluded.
