Police Hospital: Terra Drone Fire Victim Dies Due To Carbon Monoxide Toxic Toxics

JAKARTA Karodokpol Pusdokkes Polri, Brigadier General Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan, said that all victims of the PT Terra Drone building fire in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, were thought to have died from poisoning to carbon monoxide gas (CO) which was inhaled at the time of the incident.

Nyoman explained that the conclusion was obtained from an external examination of the corpse, analysis of the pattern of bruises on the corpse, to simple laboratory tests on the victim's blood sample. The results of the examination showed high CO levels, similar to the findings of the three victims who had previously been identified.

"Based on the examination of staff and forensic specialist personnel, the findings lead to the absorption of CO smoke and gas, carbon monoxide. Simple laboratory tests also show high CO content," said Nyoman at the Police Hospital, Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

He added that production of carbon monoxide gas generally occurs in the process of massive burning, such as in the case of the Terra Drone fire. Although the exact source cannot be ascertained, the fire conditions inside the building are very possible for the emergence of the toxic gas.

Carbon monoxide gas then competes with oxygen in the body, making the victim unable to breathe normally until finally losing his life.

This gas can arise from various combustion processes. Although it is not yet known whether it comes from certain materials, the evidence shows that in a wound or burning condition like this, carbon monoxide gas has a dominant role, "he explained.

In addition to gas poisoning, the victims also suffered burns of degree two. Leaphan on the victim's body and fingers made the identification process more difficult.

"Some parts of the victim's body were limped," concluded Nyoman.
