JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian appreciated the quick steps taken by DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat officers in extinguishing fires and evacuating a number of victims at the Terra Drone Indonesia building in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

This was conveyed by Tito during an examination at the Terra Drone shophouse in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta.

"I highly appreciate the Fire Department who came very quickly after receiving a report within 7 minutes after the report came directly to the TKP," said Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian at the fire site, Wednesday, December 10.

Moreover, firefighters evacuated dozens of Terra Drone employees through the side lane or side wall of the building. The reason is, the building does not have other evacuation routes.

"Then I appreciate (Damkar) evacuating through the side lane, so that 19 people can be saved but 22 people cannot be saved," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Head of the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service, Bayu Meghantara, said that the fire that burned the Terra Drone Indonesia building in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta, started from the ground floor (floor 1) part of the building on Tuesday, December 9.

However, the flames only burned on the ground floor of the building, there was no fire propagation to other floors. In addition, there were no fire propagation on the side.

Although the fire only burned the ground floor, thick smoke that rose to the upper floor made a number of employees trapped on several other floors.

"(The most victims were found) On the 3rd and 4th floors. That's right (3rd and 4th floors are not burning floors)," said Bayu when confirmed, Wednesday, December 10.

However, the number of victims who died reached 22 people. A total of 22 people who died as a result of the fire were thought to have died due to weakness after inhaling smoke.

"Because the access route is up. Access to this top requires energy, chaos and so on, maybe. 22 people died. All of them are employees," he said.
