Old Town Tattoo Artists Instead Of Profession Become Mobile Phone Robbers, They Say They Need Money For Children

JAKARTA - An artist with an Old Town tattoo, Jakarta, with the initials A (37) was desperate to carry out two acts of robbery because he needed money to meet his needs.

The first burglary was carried out in the Jakarta area some time ago. Perpetrator A managed to steal some money from the victim.

According to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Tambora Police, AKP Sudrajat Djumantara in Jakarta, Thursday, the second action was carried out at the red light of Jembatan Dua, Tambora on Wednesday, December 3, afternoon.

The perpetrator had to languish behind bars after being arrested by officers from the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit at his residence in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta, on Thursday.

"We have secured the perpetrator. So based on the results of the examination, A is a recidivist for the same thing, snatching approximately twice. For his work, A is a tattoo artist in the Kota Tua area, Tamansari," he said.

When interrogated by investigators, perpetrator A gave birth and needed money for his son's needs.

"Again, I need money for my children," said A in response to investigators' questions.

His income as a tattoo artist in Kota Tua is not enough to meet his family's needs.

"(Income as a tattoo artist) Not necessarily. That's why sometimes I can become a parking attendant too," he said.

In the mugging incident, perpetrator A acted with his partner who is still at large. "I am one more, but the one who took my cellphone," he said.

The cell phone that was taken was about to be sold by perpetrator A. However, he saw a number of cameras highlighting it in action.

"I saw someone videoin yesterday, that's why I didn't sell the cellphone," said the man with the tattoo all over his body.

The police have arrested a robber with the initials A (37) who acted right at the red light of Jembatan Dua, Tambora, West Jakarta.

The arrests were made in less than 24 days after the perpetrators took action.

"We arrested this perpetrator while resting at his place of residence," said Sudrajat.

Sudrajat explained that the incident began when the victim stopped at a red light.

"So there is a motorcyclist who is stopped, then the two people who are trying to seize property or ownership objects from the motorcyclist. But what can be taken is the cellphone from the victim," said Sudrajat.

Police are still hunting down another perpetrator who took action with perpetrator A. "One more person is still being chased," said Sudrajat.

For his actions, perpetrator A was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding ordinary theft, with a penalty of five years in prison.
