South Jakarta Police Confirms Alvaro's Death Case Continues

South Jakarta Metro Police confirmed that the kidnapping and murder of Alvaro Kiano Nugroho (6) had not been stopped even though the suspect, his stepfather, Alex Iskandar, had died by suicide.

"Until now, South Jakarta Metro Police investigators have not stopped the investigation," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicholas Ary Lilipaly at a press conference at the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta on Thursday, November 4, 2025.

Nicolas said that the investigation of the case had not been stopped because it was still gathering evidence whether other parties were involved or not.

"So we continue to investigate, we continue to carry out investigations to reveal whether in this case the AI suspect committed the murder alone or if there was another involvement," he said.

Nicholas revealed that currently his party had examined 21 witnesses to carry out pre-reconstruction to make clear the case of Alvaro's death. The reason is, Alvaro's death was only discovered after more than eight months had disappeared.

"It is still being investigated because of the disclosure of this case, there are stories, so we are still exploring the connection, the involvement of other witnesses in this case," he added.

This, including the status of suspect Alex Iskandar, cannot be dropped even though he has died in accordance with Article 77 of the Criminal Code and Article 109 of the Criminal Procedure Code which explains that investigators can terminate cases, one of which is null and void.

"If the suspect dies, his status as a suspect, we investigators can stop the investigation, it cannot be lowered from the status of a suspect and so on. But we will stop the investigation," he concluded.
