JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo resigned from his post. This is in line with his resignation letter to President RI Prabowo Subianto.

The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi admitted that he had received Perry Warjiyo's resignation letter on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He also added that he would take care of the administration today, Monday, July 27, 2026.

"then according to the applicable mechanisms and laws, especially we refer to the Bank Indonesia Law, then first, Mr. President accepted the resignation of Mr. Perry Warjiyo accompanied by the highest thanks and appreciation for his dedication for 7 years," he said in a BI press conference, Monday, July 27.

Prasetyo said that, in accordance with the BI Law, the position of Governor of BI will automatically be held by the Senior Deputy Governor of BI who will serve as the Acting Governor of BI.

"The deputy governor senior in question is Mrs. Destri Damayanti," he said.

As is known, Perry Warjiyo was born in Sukoharjo in 1959. After studying at the Faculty of Economics, Gajah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta in 1982, Perry Warjiyo continued his education at Iowa State University until he received a Master's degree in 1989 and a Ph.D. in 1991.
