303 Victims Died, Government Intensively Distributes Aid To Sumatra Disaster Locations

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government continues to support residents displaced by flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Assistance is distributed by land and air, including helicopters, Hercules aircraft, and A400M belonging to the Indonesian Air Force.

"We have dispatched three Hercules C130s and one A400. The government moved quickly from day one and continues to support the needs of refugees," said President Prabowo, broadcast on the official account @presidenrepublicdonesia, quoted on Sunday, November 30.

A number of MBG kitchens at the disaster site were converted into public kitchens. In Aceh, the kitchen of SPPG Daulat Lae Langge and SPPG Subulussalam serve refugees. In North Sumatra, the kitchen of SPPG Cengkeh Turi Binjai Utara is used similarly.

The President also expressed his condolences to the victims and the affected families. "Let's unite, work together, and pray for our affected brothers and sisters. Hopefully this difficult time will pass soon," he said.

Flash floods and landslides occurred Tuesday, November 25, hitting a number of cities and districts in three provinces. BNPB recorded that as of November 29, 2025, the death toll reached 303 people, 279 were still missing, and 18 were injured.

In detail, 166 died in North Sumatra, 90 in West Sumatra, and 47 in Aceh. Meanwhile, the highest missing victims were North Sumatra (133), West Sumatra (85), and Aceh (51).

The government deployed 11 TNI and Basarnas helicopters for evacuation and distribution of aid. Six warships, including KRI dr Soeharso-990 and KRI Semarang-594, were used to support logistics delivery and medical services.
