Prabowo: Teachers Must Be Firm If Students Are Not Teaching

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked teachers to be firm in dealing with students at school who behave rudely, even though he is the son of a general.

Speaking at the peak of the 2025 National Teacher's Day Commemoration, the Head of State said that this attitude was important to maintain the authority of teachers in shaping the character of students.

"If a bad boy continues to be left naughty, he can't be a good person," said the President in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

He said that his childhood experience shows how strict teacher training has shaped him to be able to stand as a leader today.

On that occasion, the President highlighted the phenomenon of increasing the behavior of students who did not respect teachers, even dared to reply to warnings or show an rude attitude.

He assessed that this attitude should not be tolerated because it will have a negative impact on the development of children's character.

In his speech, the President also shared his experience while serving as Minister of Defense, when a principal revoked the status of a student because he was not, such as answering in a ketus tone to the point of slamming the door.

The President told him that the decision to remove the student from school had made the principal hesitant because the student who was dismissed was the son of a general.

Knowing this, Prabowo actually asked the principal not to hesitate with his decision to remove the child from school.

"Don't hesitate. Where is the general, tell me to meet me," he said, greeted by cheers from the audience.

President Prabowo emphasized that children from public figures should behave more politely and orderly.

He asked all parties, including the Minister of Education, not to be afraid to support the authority of teachers in educating the nation's generation.

"The Minister of Education should not hesitate, we must support teachers, teachers are Indonesia's future. Therefore, all Indonesian children, I always ask to love parents, respect teachers," he said.
