JAKARTA - A number of traders selling on the sidewalks of Jalan Raden Saleh, Menteng, Central Jakarta were brought under control by the Satpol PP on Friday, November 28, noon.

The prosecution was carried out following the large number of complaints from the public, especially pedestrians who felt that their activities were hampered due to the presence of traders.

Menteng District Manpol, Hendra Ardiansyah said that sidewalks that should be public facilities for pedestrians should not be used for trading purposes.

Therefore, the officers immediately ignored the traders who were proven to have observed the area.

"We prevent traders from occupying the sidewalks. This area must be clean and can be used properly by residents," he said when confirmed, Friday, November 28.

In this activity, the Satpol PP gave written action to six traders.

In addition, officers also found at least 12 other traders who set up tents along the sidewalks to sell. All tents were asked to be dismantled in order to maintain the order of public facilities.

"Then we urge the tents not to install tents again along this road. Then we give a statement on stamp duty so as not to repeat it," he said.

He emphasized that control is carried out to ensure that pedestrian paths are not blocked and can be used safely. In addition, his party wants to prevent the condition of the road from returning to chaos due to stalls being arranged that are not in accordance with the rules.

"Throughout this road we tidy everything up. We want to make sure the sidewalks return to their functions," he said.

Hendra also appealed to local residents and traders to comply with the rules and not to use the sidewalk as a place of business.

"We ask the public not to sell in locations that are not intended," he said.
