Heart Attack, Cyclist Dies At JLNT Casablanca

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Transportation Office confirmed that a cyclist died while taking part in a trial of a "road bike" bike path on the Non-Toll Road (JLNT) of Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang that crosses KH Mas Mansyur Road to Casablanca Highway.

Head of Traffic Department of DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Rudy Saptari said the victim named John (62) died suspected of heart attack.

It is known based on the victim's family's statement that John had been fitted with a ring about 15 years ago. Fatigue is also the trigger for the death of the victim.

"From the doctor is suspected tiredness because judging from his garmin, which in the snout of the bike, the heartbeat of the deceased is high, 180. So it's suspected to be a heart attack. His family also asked the victim to have a history of heart", Rudi was quoted as saying by Antara, Sunday, May 23.

The incident began when the victim was first found by another passing cyclist. Later, the cyclist reported to Dishub that the victim was sitting and appeared to faint.

An ambulance was launched to the location where John leaned on the barrier of Casablanca's Non-Toll Overpass (JLNT).

The medical officer immediately took John to Tarakan Hospital using an ambulance car belonging to the AGD of the DKI Jakarta Health Office. However, it is not known whether John died en route or after arriving at the hospital.

As is known, the Provincial Government of DKI conducted a trial of "road bike" bike lanes at JLNT Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang on Sunday at 05.00 to 08.00 WIB.
