Doni Monardo: Cooperation And Compliance Can Reduce COVID-19 Cases

JAKARTA - Chairman of the COVID-19 Management Task Force Doni Monardo said the cooperation of various agencies in the region and community compliance with government rules in handling the new type of coronavirus could help reduce the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.

"Once again, collaboration, consistency, cooperation, community discipline in the handling of COVID-19 will help in reducing the risk of corona cases in the country so that there are no concerns experienced by the people as it is now", he said while giving a statement to the media crew in South Lampung, Lampung Province, reported by Antara, Saturday, May 22.

He said the "mandatory test" program conducted in Lampung Province would not run smoothly if there was no outstanding work from local governments, the police and National Army (TNI officials), and related agencies.

"Without tremendous hard work, since the government conducted a ban on homecoming and the visit of some officials to Lampung then the mandatory test program for travelers can run well, and all officers have worked straightforwardly and decisively for 24 hours", he said.

Doni explained the importance of a "mandatory test" conducted optimally because there is a difference in the level of risk of COVID-19 cases between Sumatra and Java in the last 1.5 months.

"In Java, there is now a downward trend in active cases of COVID-19, whereas in Sumatra today almost all provinces go into orange and red zones, so we must prevent the 'ping pong pattern' from occurring", he said.

Doni, who is also the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, said that in order for the "ping pong pattern" not to occur or the transfer of the risk level of COVID-19 cases moving from Sumatra to Java, all people who want to go to areas in Java should conduct an examination.

He said based on reports from local governments in recent days, 383 people who want to cross to Java island are positive of COVID-19 from the results of "mandatory test".

"This is a relatively very large number if they escape it will certainly transmit the family in Java Island. I would also like to thank the public who have been willing to conduct good checks through GeNose and 'rapid test' of antigens, as all of this is to reduce the rate of spread of COVID-19", he said.
