Chairman of the DPR RI Budget Agency (Banggar) Said Abdullah, responded to the plan of the Ministry of Finance to change the price of the rupiah or redenomination through law. Said reminded the government to be careful in implementing the rupiah redenomination policy.

Because according to Said, the policy does not just delete the zero digit on rupiah currency. However, the implementation of redenomination requires economic, social, political, and technical readiness so that it does not have a bad impact on the community.

"In my opinion, redenomination requires prerequisites. The first is to ensure the stability of our economic growth, social aspects, the political aspect. Then technically, is the government ready?" Said said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 11.

"If all that is not done, don't try to redenominate it. For what reason? Don't think that what seems to be redenomination is something that just eliminates the three zeros behind it," continued the PDIP politician.

Said assessed that the rupiah redenomination could have a major impact on inflation if the policy was taken without careful preparation. It will not only have an inflatoir impact. The impact of the inflation will be extraordinary when in the technical aspect the government is not ready," he explained.

The legislator from the East Java XI electoral district also reminded the potential for price games if the redenomination is carried out without careful preparation. According to Said, price rounding due to nominal adjustments can trigger inflation that is detrimental to the community.

"That's what worries me. If the government's technical aspect is not ready, if the price of 280 is rounded up by 300 rupiahs, then the inflation will occur. That is what really disturbs our minds in the Budget Agency," he said.

Even so, Said admitted that redenomination also has certain benefits, one of which is in terms of efficiency in using cash. "Yes, it's very useful. If 10 million is 3 centimeters thick, the zeros of three are thrown away, it's pretty good to have one sheet," he said.

Said also believes that redenomination will strengthen the rupiah's authority globally, although it does not affect the exchange rate against the US dollar.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance planned to draft four new Draft Laws (RUU) in the near future, one of which was a bill on Changes in Rupiah Prices or Redenomination.

This plan is stated in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 70 of 2025 concerning the Strategic Plan (Renstra) of the Ministry of Finance 2025'2029.

The PMK was issued on October 10, 2025 and took effect after being promulgated on November 3, 2025.

The urgency of formation, economic efficiency can be achieved through increasing national competitiveness, citing the regulation, Friday, November 7.
