Even though the Turnover of Online Gambling Funds has decreased by 20 Percent, the DPR warns that the threat is not over yet.

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Sukamta, welcomed the trend of declining turnover of online gambling funds (judol) in Indonesia. He also asked the Government to be more systematic and disciplined in dealing with the problem of law enforcement due to judol.

"The trend of declining judol circulation funds is certainly a good step shown by the Government, although the judol problem is not yet complete so there must be improvements," said Sukamta, Wednesday, July 29.

According to Sukamta, the Government's success in suppressing the circulation of judol funds, among other things, is thanks to the performance of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) which massively closed judol websites and carried out various other steps.

"Appreciation for Komdigi who are on the front line for this decline in the turnover of judo," said the PKS Legislator from the DI Yogyakarta District.

Even so, Sukamta encouraged Komdigi as a partner of Commission I of the DPR to continue to make improvements in handling judol. Moreover, PPATK still sees online gambling activities until 2026 have not subsided where the results of the analysis show that the pattern of judol transactions is increasingly frequent, widespread, and tends to use smaller nominal amounts.

"Komdigi needs to work more systematically and more disciplined so that it can slowly but surely erode judol in Indonesia," explained Sukamta.

Sukamta also assessed that the Government needed to conduct a thorough evaluation of the direction of national digital space governance policies. Especially because the eradication of online gambling has so far been more often measured by the number of blocked sites or applications that have been removed.

"This approach is important, but it is no longer enough to face criminal organizations that are able to continue to adapt. The government needs to shift the policy orientation from content enforcement to digital ecosystem governance, namely ensuring that the entire digital ecosystem has resilience against infiltration of criminal activities," he concluded.

For information, the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK) reported a decrease in the circulation of judol funds in the era of President Prabowo Subianto in 2025 reaching IDR 286.84 trillion or 20 percent compared to the previous year.

Based on PPATK data, the value of the turnover of online gambling funds has increased since 2017, from Rp2.01 trillion to Rp359.81 trillion in 2024.

However, for the first time since 2017, PPATK recorded a significant decline in the turnover of judol funds in 2025 to Rp. 286.84 trillion or 20 percent compared to the previous year. In addition, the value of deposits also fell from Rp. 51.3 trillion in 2024 to Rp. 36.01 trillion in 2025.
