JAKARTA - The Banda Aceh Basarnas team evacuated two fishermen who were previously reported missing due to their dead motorboat engine in the waters of Rondo Island, Sabang City, Aceh Province.

Head of Banda Aceh Basarnas Ibnu Harris Al Hussain, in Banda Aceh, Sunday, said the two fishermen were evacuated safely after several hours of searching.

"Both of them were found safe in the condition of their boat floating around the waters of Rondo Island which is not far from Weh Island, Sabang City," he said.

The two fishermen who were evacuated were M Yasin, 50 years old and Jimmi, 40 years old. The two fishermen came from Ulee Lheue, Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh City.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the evacuation began when the two victims searched for fish in the waters of the western tip of Indonesia on Saturday, November 8, at 22.30 WIB. Suddenly, their motorboat engine died.

The two fishermen, he said, contacted their colleagues on land to report the incident they experienced. Furthermore, the victim's colleague reported the incident to the Banda Aceh Class A Disbursement and Rescue Office.

The Banda Aceh Class A Disbursement and Rescue Office followed up on the report by dispatching five personnel to evacuate victims. SAR personnel departed by RIB boat on Sunday, November 9, at 00.15 WIB.

"A hour later, the team arrived at the last point where the victim was. Next, the SAR team searched for victims around the waters. The two victims were finally found at 03.35 WIB," he said.

Then, he said, the SAR team evacuated the victim along with a motorboat to Balohan Harbor, Sabang City. The evacuation was accompanied by a number of other fishermen.

"In addition to the Banda Aceh Basarnas team, the evacuation also involved personnel from the Sabang SAR Post and local fishermen. With the end of the evacuation, the personnel involved were returned to their respective posts," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
