Surabaya City Government today received the help of a set of coronavirus detection tools named Gadjah Mada Electronic Nose (GeNose) COVID-19.

GeNose is a COVID-19 detection tool that works by detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The patient simply exhales into a special sac in a matter of minutes, and the results can come out immediately.

The assistance was received directly by the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, from PT Yekape, that handed over one unit of GeNose machine, 1500 HME filter, and 20 thousand pcs of breath bag.

According to Eri Cahyadi, this sophisticated tool is considered very helpful to anticipate the spike in COVID-19 cases after the Eid al-Fitr holiday in The City of Heroes. Because GeNose does not take long just to find out if the patient is exposed to COVID-19.

In addition, sophisticated tools made by experts from Gajah Mada University (UGM) will be taken around by the Health Office for use in various public facilities.
