KAI: 5 Train Accident Victims In Prambanan Still Being Treated At The Hospital, Including 2 Toddlers

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta said five of the six injured victims of the 161 Train (KA) Bangunkarta accident at the Prambanan crossing, Sleman, on Tuesday 4 November, were still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"One person has finished treatment and five people are still being treated at the hospital," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Feni Novida Saragih in Yogyakarta, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He added that of the five victims who are still being treated, two of them are toddlers.

"Including two toddlers, they are still being treated at the hospital," said Feni.

Feni said that until now the investigation process with the police is still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.

"Still under investigation with the police. Please be patient, we are waiting for the results of the examination," he said.

Previously, the train accident 161 Bangunkarta heading for Jombang-Pasar Senen with a car and two motorbikes occurred at the crossing between Brambanan and Maguwo Stations, Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region, Tuesday 4 November at around 10.35 WIB.

Three people died and six others were injured in the incident.

The Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Ihsan, previously said that a number of witnesses had been examined during an investigation with PT KAI.

Based on preliminary information, one of the northern side door bars was reported not to be closed when the train passed.

However, Ihsan emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and there is no conclusion, including regarding the possibility of negligence.
