JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said the commemoration of the Youth Pledge which fell today was a moment for the public to be proud of Indonesian and jointly advance it.
"Let us together, especially the younger generation, to improve and strengthen the Indonesian spirit because with that spirit we can jointly become Indonesia as determined by the nation's founders," he said in Jakarta, Monday, October 27 evening.
Mu'ti also emphasized that through the Youth Pledge, the community needs to strengthen unity by upholding the Indonesian language that was fought for by its predecessors to be better known to the world.
"Of course, in accordance with the message of the Youth Pledge, we need to strengthen unity as a homeland, Indonesian homeland, then one nation, the Indonesian nation, and uphold the language of unity, Indonesian language," he explained.
The Minister of Education and Culture also said that his party has policies related to Indonesian, namely being proud, proficient, and advanced in Indonesian.
"Also the Trigatra Language policy, namely we prioritize Indonesian, we preserve regional languages, and we master foreign languages, and of course with this Youth Pledge, is a moment to strengthen this," he said.
