Minister Of Home Affairs Asks Regional Heads To Intervene To Speed Up COVID-19 Vaccination

JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked regional heads to step in to accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination program so that group immunity can be realized immediately.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said that with the acceleration of vaccination it is hoped that the immunity of community groups can be realized so that the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic can be solved.

The Minister of Home Affairs asked that the vaccination program not only be submitted to the head of the Health Office. However, the vaccination program needs to be led directly by regional heads.

"Please colleagues with regional heads to give a very serious push to the head of the Health Office, especially to carry out a vaccination program, especially if you can lead the meeting directly, that's even better," said the Minister of Home Affairs in a routine meeting to coordinate monitoring the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination, Wednesday, May 19.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized the need for direct involvement of regional heads in the running of the vaccination program because regional heads are the authorities who have full authority in the regions.

"In some areas, we check everything is handed over to the head of the Health Service so that when he finds obstacles in the field it is beyond his authority," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

Regional heads are encouraged to have scenarios in running the vaccination program in their respective regions because each region has different situations in the field, he said.

"We have to speed up the injection to achieve group immunity as quickly as possible, so ask the regional head to have a scenario and please lead it directly, so that the head of the Health Service is confident at the time of carrying out the execution," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
