Prabowo Holds Sunday's Meeting To Discuss National STEM Strengthening

JAKARTA President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with a number of members of the Red and White Cabinet on Sunday, October 19, with a focus on strengthening the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

According to information from the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) in Jakarta, the meeting is scheduled to take place in the afternoon at President Prabowo's private residence in the Kertanegara area, South Jakarta.

A number of high-ranking state officials attended the meeting, including Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Minister of Higher Education and Science and Technology (Mendikti Saintek) Brian Yuliarto.

Previously, after a limited meeting with the President in the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base VVIP Room, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 14, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the Ministry of Education and Technology, Saintek, was receiving a new mandate from President Prabowo to strengthen the development of human resources in the STEM sector.

"The Minister of Education and Technology, Saintek, was given the task by the President to prepare human resources, especially in the STEM sector," said Prasetyo.

In addition, the President also gave special directions to the ministry to conduct research and technology development that could encourage the achievement of national energy and food self-sufficiency.

In the context of food self-sufficiency, the President assigned the Ministry of Education and Technology to utilize technology in the development of superior seeds, as well as strengthen innovation in the mineral field and its derivatives sourced from Indonesia's natural wealth.

The meeting was part of the government's efforts to accelerate the transformation of science and technology as the foundation of national economic independence, as well as support the long-term development direction in the innovation-based industrial era.
