Anies Baswedan Called 148 Homecomers Returning To Jakarta Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that currently there are 5.955 vehicles are on hold. As a result, 22.910 travelers were tested for COVID-19 because they did not have a COVID-19-free certificate.

Of the rapid number of antigen tests, Anies said that 148 travelers returned to Jakarta who were positive or reactive to the coronavirus. They were immediately directed to be isolated.

"They were referred to Wisma Atlet, there were 57, and 17 other people to another hospital, and there were 74 who were doing self-isolation", said Anies while reviewing the insulation operation on the Jakarta-Cikampek km 34B toll road, Wednesday, May 19.

Anies said that the percentage of positive cases from travelers who were screened for examinations was quite small, namely 0.64 percent. However, this figure should not be underestimated because it can infect other residents in the vicinity of his residence.

"If they are not detected, they will become carriers that can infect other people", said Anies.

The former Minister of Education and Culture said that currently, the conditions for handling COVID-19 in the Capital City are quite under control. The current pandemic condition is the lowest in the past year.

Therefore, Anies does not want the number of corona cases to increase again just like at the beginning of the year due to the long Christmas and New Year holidays.

"We want this condition to get more and more day-to-day, both the number of active cases will decrease, the number of infections will decrease. So, we hope that Jakarta and its surrounding areas can be free soon", he said.

Furthermore, Anies said the government carried out two layers of screening in catching the travelers who returned to Jakarta after Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri.

The first layer of screening is carried out by the vehicle isolation officer. The travelers who want to return to Jakarta are required to bring a COVID-19-free certificate. If not, the travelers will be required to undergo isolation.

Screening in neighborhoods is the second tier examination at the community scale. The COVID-19 Task Force at the neighborhood levels coordinated with the ranks of the sub-district, village head, Community Security and Order Development (Babinkabtibmas), and Village Guidance Officer (Babinsa) to collect data on residents who entered the Jakarta area after Eid al-Fitr 1442 H.

The heads of neighborhoods will be provided with a special application to report twice a day on conditions in their area. The travelers are confirmed to be healthy and have no symptoms of COVID-19.
