JAMBI - Investigators from the Kota Baru Jambi Police said that the suspect in the stabbing of a woman named Yohana at a mall in Jambi City began with a heartache that her cellphone number was blocked by the victim.

Kapolsek Kota Baru AKP Afrito in Jambi said that the suspect Okta Rianto (23) from Palembang came to Jambi to meet the victim Yohana. According to his confession with the woman he was having an affair.

"Previously, the suspect and the victim had a meeting, but after that the victim blocked the suspect's phone number, causing heartache," the police chief was quoted as saying by Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

At the time of the incident, May 12 at around 13.00 WIB, the suspect intended to meet the victim at the entrance to the Jamtos Mall area. The suspect, who was already filled with anger, then stabbed a knife several times at the victim.

However, because it was carried out during the day and in a crowd, the perpetrator was immediately arrested by security officers and residents at the scene.

The victim suffered stab wounds all over his body. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

The stabbing was caught by a surveillance camera in the corner of the mall and the footage went viral on social media.

In addition to securing the suspect, the police also secured evidence, namely a knife, a Yamaha Jupiter motorcycle belonging to the perpetrator.

As a result of his actions, suspect Okta was charged with maltreatment in accordance with Article 351 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code with the threat of a sentence of five years in prison.
