BMKG: Tropical Cyclone Bualoi Potentially Causes Heavy Rain And High Waves In Eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the Bualoi Tropical Cyclone that developed from the seeds of cyclone 92W in the Philippine Sea had the potential to have an indirect impact in the form of heavy rain and high waves in a number of areas east of Indonesia.

BMKG Director of Public Meteorology Andri Ramadhani explained that the circulation center of Tropical Cyclone Bualoi was detected in the southeast of Luzon Island, Philippines, at 9.8 degrees LU and 132.4 degrees BT or about 1,050 kilometers northeast of Tahuna, North Sulawesi.

This cyclone has a maximum wind speed of about 45 knots or 83 kilometers per hour with a minimum air pressure of 996 hPa.

"In the next 24 hours, the maximum wind speed is expected to increase so that Bualoi is categorized as 2 and moves to the west-northwest away from Indonesian territory," he explained in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 24.

Despite staying away from Indonesia, indirect impacts in the form of moderate to heavy rain are expected in North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, and Southwest Papua in the next 24 hours, September 25, 2025 starting at 07.00 WIB.

BMKG also reminded the potential for sea waves as high as 1.25'2.5 meters in the Morotai Waters 'Lolodes, East Waters of the Halmahera Islands, Raja Ampat Waters, Banda Sea, to the Pacific Ocean north of Maluku to Southwest Papua.

Higher waves between 2.5'4 meters are likely to occur in the Pacific Ocean north of West Papua to north of Papua. This condition is considered dangerous for shipping activities and traditional fishermen.

BMKG mengimbau masyarakat, khususnya nelayan, pengguna, dan operator transportasi laut, untuk memperhatikan informasi prakiraan cuaca dan gelombang tinggi agar tetap aman dalam beraktivitas.
