Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin stated that the case of food poisoning suspected of being from the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program in Kadungora District, Garut Regency, West Java must be a lesson for all parties so that it does not happen again in the future.
"We also don't want that, but it has to be a lesson for everyone," said Abdusy Syakur as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 19.
The Regent's statement was in response to hundreds of elementary, junior high, and high school students who complained of dizziness and vomiting after allegedly eating MBG food at his school.
The Regent expressed his concern and asked the authorities to follow up on the matter so that it would not happen again.
"Yes, we ask the authorities to just follow up," he said.
He said the local government would immediately communicate with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) which has the authority to implement the MBG program.
According to the rules, he said, the implementation of the MBG contained a number of officers, namely the manager and then some were tasked with ensuring nutrition and quality.
"What guarantees nutrition and quality are all the authority of BGN," he said.
The Garut Regency Government in supporting the program only provides a place for the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), which currently only has 58 SPPGs from which there should be 300 SPPGs to provide MBG for students.
"This is still a process, yes, in Garut this should be 300 SPPG, but only 58," he said.
Regarding the ideal food control system, he said, it needs to be done because as a beneficiary, it is hoped that the MBG program is right on target and according to the government's expectations.
"What is the ideal form of surveillance communication, because we (Garut Regency Government) cannot let go because of the beneficiaries of the community," he said.
