Today's Demonstration Action, Pramono: During The Ojol Demo, I'm Sure It's OK

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the planned demonstration by an online motorcycle taxi driver group (ojol) which will be held around the Palace area, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), and the DPR RI building.

Pramono believes that today's demonstration will run in an orderly manner without any more public facilities in Jakarta being damaged by the clashes.

"I believe, because today the demonstration was coordinated by ojol, I am sure it will be fine," said Pramono at the Nasiolal Monument area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 17.

Moreover, according to Pramono, demonstrations are the right of every citizen to voice their aspirations. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government is coordinating with the Metro Police to ensure that the inspection runs in an orderly manner and is no longer chaotic as at the end of last August.

"We give everyone the freedom to be able to express their aspirations and opinions. But of course we are just in case what happened yesterday happened again," said Pramono.

Thousands of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who are members of the Garda Indonesia Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Association plan to hold a massive demonstration today, Wednesday, September 17, to coincide with National Transportation Day.

According to the plan, the mass of action will first gather at the Garda headquarters in the Cempaka Mas area, Central Jakarta, at 10.00 WIB.

From there, the action participants will move towards the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Transportation. The final wave is planned to arrive at the DPR/MPR RI building at around 12.00 to 13.00 WIB.

Igun estimates that the number of participants present reached 2,000 people from Jabodetebak. Of the total mass, around 100 to 200 drivers will carry out motorized convoys of vehicles, while the rest will take part in demonstrations at predetermined locations.

"Massa convoys 100-200 people, while the mass of action reaches around 2,000 ojol," said Igun.

In this action, ojol drivers carry out seven main demands that are considered to represent their aspirations.

One of the important points is to urge the Draft Law on Online Transportation to immediately enter the 2025-2026 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). In addition, they also demand a reduction in the cost cut from the applicator, which currently reaches 10%.

Other demands include fairer tariff regulations for goods and food services, as well as an investigative audit of 5 percent which is suspected to have been carried out by the applicator.

Not only that, the drivers also asked the National Police Chief to immediately complete an investigation related to the tragedy that occurred on August 28, 2025.

Central Jakarta Metro Police said as many as 6,118 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri and DKI Regional Government were deployed to guard the online / online motorcycle taxi driver demonstration at the DPR / MPR Building and the Monas area, Wednesday.
