There are Activities that Cannot Be Postponed, Megawati Absent at the MPR Annual Session

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) who is also the General Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri could not attend the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 17, because there were other activities.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of the DPP PDIP Djarot Saiful Hidayat who was present at the parliament complex.

"Mega's mother is not here, Mega's mother has activities today that cannot be postponed," Djarot told reporters, quoted by Antara.

Apart from the annual session, he also could not confirm Megawati's presence at the celebration of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, which will be held on Monday, August 17.

"Usually on August 17, Mega's mother has a ceremony at the Party School. We will check later, but on August 17, Mega's mother usually leads the flag ceremony at the Party School," said Djarot.

Meanwhile, a number of figures who have attended the annual session are the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Budiono to the Red and White Cabinet ministers.

This Friday, the MPR RI, DPR RI, and DPD RI, held the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI, one of which was agenda for President Prabowo Subianto's speech in the framework of the Presentation of the Performance Report of State Institutions and the State of the Republic of Indonesia President's speech in the framework of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to the speech, the government will also show a video of the government's performance achievements.

This annual session is a national agenda to welcome the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia which has the theme "Indonesian Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous".
