Palestine Welcomes UN Commission Report On Genocide In Gaza

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Tuesday welcomed a report issued by the United Nations Independent International Research Commission, which said Israel committed genocide crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through intentional and broad-scale policies aimed at systematically destroying them.

The ministry said in a statement the aggravating facts in the report were based on previous findings, including findings from the International Court, and reflected unprecedented levels of brutality and determination to destroy the lives and whereabouts of Palestinians, which constitute full genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. , quoted from WAFA September 16.

The ministry warned that the current situation in Gaza is a sign of an unbearable humanitarian catastrophe, as the power of occupation continues to commit the most heinous violations that openly oppose the decisions of the International Court (ICJ) and the wishes of the international community.

The ministry stressed that this gives legal and moral obligations to all High Parties who signed the Geneva Convention and the Genocide Prevention Convention to act immediately and urgently.

The ministry underlined the need to refer Israeli political and military officials, as well as terrorist colonies, to the International Court to hold them accountable for their crimes and ensure they do not avoid justice.

The ministry stressed that the continued silence of the international community over this horrific crime has left him involved and pose a serious threat to international peace and security.

As previously reported, the UN investigation commission concluded Israel committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, Palestine and senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had incited these actions.

The commission cites examples including murder scales, aid barriers, forced transfers, and destruction of fertility centers to support their genocide findings, adding their opinions to human rights groups and others who have reached the same conclusion.

"Genosida is taking place in Gaza," said Navi Pillay, chairman of the Independent International Investigation Commission for the occupied Palestinian Territory who is also a former ICJ judge.

"The responsibility for this horrific crime rests with the Israeli authorities at the highest level, who have led a genocide campaign for nearly two years with the sole goal of eliminating Palestinians in Gaza," he added.
