President Prabowo assigns a joint team and sends assistance, moves quickly to deal with the impact of the NTT earthquake since morning

JAKARTA - The government is moving quickly to deal with people affected by the earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Since this morning, President Prabowo Subianto has ordered all levels of government to immediately handle and ensure that affected people receive the necessary assistance.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement on Saturday, August 15, 2026, conveyed that President Prabowo had assigned a number of central government officials to immediately go to the affected areas in Labuan Bajo and Maumere today.

"President Prabowo has ordered all levels of government to move quickly to handle and ensure that affected people get the assistance they need. President Prabowo has also assigned several central officials to go directly to Labuan Bajo and Maumere today," said the Presidential Secretariat, Teddy.

According to the Secretary of the Cabinet, Teddy, the officials who were assigned to go directly to Labuan Bajo and Maumere were the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Public Works, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Deputy Minister of Health, and the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs.

A team from a number of SOEs and related institutions, namely PLN, Telkom, Pertamina, and Bulog, was also dispatched to support handling the needs of the community in the affected areas.

In addition, the Seskab Teddy said that the government had also sent basic necessities for affected people. A total of 50,000 food packages from the Presidential Aid (Banpres) have been sent to Maumere.

Furthermore, the Seskab, Teddy, said the government ensured that handling on the ground would continue to be carried out quickly and appropriately by involving all related elements. "The government continues to move quickly to handle our brothers and sisters in NTT," concluded the Seskab, Teddy.
