JAYAPURA - The Papuan Police dispatched an investigation team from the Professional and Security Sector (Propam) to investigate the case of Viktor Deal's death after being secured at the Dekai Police Station, Yahukimo Regency, on Wednesday, September 3.
"The team is led by the Head of Propam Polda Papua Kombes Rudi Asriman," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police Kombes Cahyo Sukarnito in Jayapura, Antara, Monday, September 8.
Cahyo explained that the investigation team had returned and based on reports received, Viktor came to the Dekai Police Station drunk after consuming alcoholic beverages carrying stones.
Seeing this, the police tried to secure Viktor. However, he fought back so that the authorities took action. "Not long after, the person concerned died with bruises on his body," said Cahyo.
He said that currently there are four members of the Dekai Police who have been questioned regarding the incident.
"Investigations are still being carried out to determine whether any members are involved in handling the case," he said.
Meanwhile, the security conditions in Dekai are reported to be relatively conducive. The Yahukimo Police Chief has met with the families of the victims and local community leaders.
