Mount Lewotobi Men Eruption Lontarkan Abu As High As 600 Meters

Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) erupted with a column height of ash observed at approximately 600 meters above the peak/ANTARA/HO-PVMBG.

The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), with a height of ash ponds reaching approximately 600 meters.

"There was an eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki, on August 28, 2025 at 17:29 WITA with a column of ash height of approximately 600 meters above the peak or approximately 2,184 meters above sea level," said the officer of the Mount Lewotobi Volcano Observation Post (PGA) Male Yosef Suryanto as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 28.

The height of the ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the southwest and west.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 2.9 millimeters (mm) and a duration of approximately two minutes 17 seconds.

Currently, Mount Lewotobi Men are at Level III (Alert) Status, therefore, the public and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a six km radius of the male Mount Lewotobi eruption center.

The public is also advised to be calm and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues whose sources are unclear.

People around Mount Lewotobi Male are asked to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of Mount Lewotobi Men in the event of high-intensity rain, especially the areas of Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nu Selapolen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, and Nawakote villages.
